About a month or so ago 50 Cent sent out a few tweets about a penny stock he owned shares of (30 million). After his tweets, its value rose 390% netting him a cool $8.7 million. Though the Huffington Post notes he may be in some legal trouble as a result it’s yet another example of 50 Cent’s business savvy as can be seen in this 8-minute long video:

One of the arguments I make in Stare in the Darkness is that rap actually crystallizes attitudes and black political practices that already fall in line with pre-existing ones. 50 Cent is using the idea of the outlaw to go to the bank. He’s not selling out…he’s buying in. But perhaps he’s buying in as Curtis Jackson rather than 50 Cent.
